Is redaction here real, or just a black box?
Real. The marked text is cut out of the page content, marked areas of images are painted over and re-encoded, and overlapping annotations are removed - then the cover is drawn. Nothing readable is left under the rectangle.
Can it find things for me?
Yes - search for a word or phrase, or sweep for personal data: e-mail addresses, phone numbers, bank accounts, tax and ID numbers, dates. Every hit is shown for review before anything is removed.
Is the document uploaded?
Nothing is uploaded: the file is opened and processed inside your browser and never leaves your device. Close the tab and it is gone. For the documents that need redacting, that is not optional.
