How to remove blank pages from a PDF: a step-by-step guide

Scanning single-sided sheets on both sides leaves an empty page after every printed one. Remove blank pages from PDF measures every page as the file loads, marks the empty ones for removal, and lets you check before anything is deleted. A scanner's dark edge, punch holes or a lone page number don't fool it. It all happens in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

概要

  1. Drop your scanned PDFs on the page, or press Add files.
  2. Check the pages marked Delete - those are the blank ones.
  3. Click a page to keep it, or to remove one the tool missed.
  4. Press Remove blank pages: the cleaned file is saved to your device straight away.

Add the scans

Drop the PDFs anywhere on the page, or press Add files. Every page is measured on arrival - the file list counts the blank pages of each file - and the blank ones are marked for removal: faded, with a dashed red edge and a Delete label.

What counts as blank

  • Strict - only a page with no mark at all.
  • Normal (the default) - specks, a stamp's shadow or a lone page number still count as blank.
  • Loose - a stamp, show-through from the other side or a scribble doesn't save the page.

Ignore the page edges (on by default) leaves the outer 8% of the page out of the measurement, so a scanner's dark strip, punch holes and a footer don't count. Switch it off and the whole sheet is measured.

The pages are measured once; changing these settings re-judges them at once, without measuring again.

Decide page by page

A click on a page changes its fate: a marked page is kept, an unmarked one is removed. Shift + click takes a run, and the field above the thumbnails takes page numbers. Your own decisions stay when you change the settings. Back to detected drops them; Measure again reads every page anew.

Remove and save

Press Remove blank pages. The line under the button counts the pages that go. The cleaned file is saved to your device at once - several files together as a ZIP. A file in which every page is blank is left out, since a PDF must keep at least one page.

Limits

Without an account, and with a free one, you can clean two files in a run, each up to 15 MB. With Pro there is no limit on the number or the size.
