Figures in a PDF can't be added up - in a spreadsheet they can. PDF to Excel finds the tables on the pages of a PDF and writes them into an .xlsx workbook, numbers as numbers, so a column sums. You see every table the tool found before you save. It all happens in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

概要

  1. Drop your PDFs on the page, or press Add files.
  2. Switch to the Tables view and check what was found.
  3. Choose what goes in and how the sheets are cut.
  4. Press Save as Excel: the workbook is saved to your device straight away.

Add the files

Drop the PDFs anywhere on the page, or press Add files. Each file is read as it loads - the list says how many tables it holds. Every page is chosen to begin with; click or drag on the thumbnails to narrow it down, or use the bar above them.

Check the tables

A PDF has no tables, only words at places on the page - so the tool reads them off the layout: words on one line with a clear gap between them are cells side by side, such lines one under another are a table. Switch the view from Pages to Tables to see each table as it will land in the sheet.

The sales table read off the page: every figure in its column, ready to be summed.

Numbers such as "20 813", "2.256,50" or "1,234.5" become number cells with the decimals they were written with. Dates, codes and long identifiers stay text. A cell that wraps onto two lines comes out as two rows - check the view before saving.

What goes in, and the sheets

  • What goes in - Tables only keeps just the tables; Everything brings the text between them too, as one-cell rows, so the sheet reads top to bottom like the page.
  • Sheets - One per page puts a page's tables on one sheet on a shared column grid, so they line up as on the page; One per table gives each table a sheet of its own, starting at column A.

Save

Press Save as Excel. The line under the button says how many tables become how many sheets in how many workbooks. One .xlsx per PDF is saved to your device at once - several together as a ZIP.

A scanned table has no text to read - run it through OCR - make a PDF searchable first.

Limits

Without an account, and with a free one, you can convert two files in a run, each up to 15 MB. With Pro there is no limit on the number or the size, and you can save your settings as a preset.
