How to convert a PowerPoint presentation to PDF: a step-by-step guide

A deck to send to someone who will only read it, a handout to print, slides to put on a website: PowerPoint to PDF turns a .pptx into a PDF with one page per shown slide, at the slide's own size - backgrounds, text with its bullets, pictures, shapes and tables where the deck put them. You don't need PowerPoint, and the presentation never leaves your browser.

  1. Drop your .pptx files on the page, or press Add files.
  2. Each deck is converted as it arrives - its slides appear in the middle.
  3. Check the rail for what was changed on the way.
  4. Press Save as PDF: the PDF is saved to your device straight away.

Add the presentations

Drop the .pptx files anywhere on the page, or press Add files. Each is converted the moment it arrives; the list says how many slides it holds, and the middle shows the pages as they will save - one per slide, at the slide's size. The tool has no settings.

What comes along, and what doesn't

  • Along: slide backgrounds, text with its size, weight, colour, bullets and numbering, pictures with their crops, rectangles, ellipses, lines, arrows and tables, and what the master and the layout draw on every slide.
  • Left out: charts and SmartArt (counted in the rail), shadows and other effects, speaker notes, animations and transitions. Hidden slides are skipped, as PowerPoint skips them when printing.
  • Fonts: the deck's fonts are shown in a similar face, sized to the same width; the rail says which were swapped.

The old binary .ppt needs PowerPoint (or LibreOffice) to be saved as .pptx first. Google Slides and Keynote can both export a .pptx.

Save

Press Save as PDF. The line under the button counts the presentations and slides. One PDF per deck is saved to your device at once - several together as a ZIP.

A handout with several slides on a page? Run the PDF through N-up (Multiple Pages per Sheet) for 2, 4 or 6 slides a sheet.

Limits

Without an account, and with a free one, you can convert two presentations in a run, each up to 15 MB. With Pro there is no limit on the number or the size.
