How to fill in a PDF form: a step-by-step guide

Seda juhendit pole veel eesti keeles, seetõttu kuvatakse see inglise keeles. Tööriist ise töötab eesti keeles.

Fill PDF forms lets you type into a PDF form as if it were on paper: click a field on the page and write, tick a box, pick from a list. Accents and special letters come out right, and you choose whether the result stays a fillable form or the values are locked into the page. Everything you type stays in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Lühidalt

  1. Drop your PDF form on the page, or press Add files.
  2. Click a field on the page and type; Tab jumps to the next one.
  3. Leave Lock the values in on for a finished form, or switch it off to keep it fillable.
  4. Press Fill in the form: the filled form is saved to your device straight away.

Add the forms

Drop the PDF anywhere on the page, or press Add files - one form or several; each keeps what you typed into it. The form opens big in the middle with a box on every field, and the rail lists the fields.

Fill PDF forms with three forms in the list: the membership form open with its empty fields, the seven fields listed in the rail

Fill in the fields

  • Text fields - click and type; Tab moves to the next field.
  • Check boxes - click to tick, click again to clear.
  • Drop-downs and lists - pick an option.
  • Radio buttons - pick one of the group; a click on the chosen one clears the group.
The form filled in: name, e-mail, phone, date of birth, Family membership, the newsletter ticked and Yearly payment; the rail shows every value
The rail shows what each field holds; a click on a field in the rail takes you to it.

Names with ő, ű, č or ł are written correctly: when a value needs letters the form's own font doesn't have, a font that has them is added to the file.

Locked or still fillable

  • Lock the values in (on by default) - the values become part of the page. Nobody can change them, and every viewer and printer shows exactly the same thing. Right for a form you hand in.
  • Switched off, the result stays a fillable form: the values can be changed later, by you or by the next person.

Clear what I typed in this file empties the fields again.

Fill in and save

Press Fill in the form. The line under the button counts the filled fields. The form is saved to your device at once - several forms together as a ZIP; the button then says Saved and turns into Save, which saves it again.

When there is nothing to fill in

  • No form - the PDF only looks like a form; it has no fields to type into. Write on it with Edit PDF, or turn it into a real form with Create fillable PDF.
  • Signature fields only - a signature field is signed with a certificate: Digitally Sign PDF.
  • XFA form - a form type most PDF viewers can't display; its fields can't be filled reliably, so the tool says so instead of saving a file that looks empty elsewhere.

Limits

Without an account, and with a free one, you can fill two forms in a run, each up to 15 MB. With Pro there is no limit on the number or the size. What you type is your data: it is never stored or sent anywhere.
