How to turn images into a PDF: a step-by-step guide

Image to PDF makes a PDF from your photos and pictures - receipts to send to the accountant, scanned pages, a set of holiday photos. You put them in order, choose the page size, the margin and how many go on a page, and the preview shows the pages exactly as they will come out. The pictures stay in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Με λίγα λόγια

  1. Drop your images on the page, or press Add files.
  2. Drag them into order - in the page preview or in the file list.
  3. Choose Page size, Margin and Images per page in the rail.
  4. Press Convert to PDF: the PDF is saved to your device straight away.

Add the images

Drop the pictures anywhere on the page, or press Add files and pick them - as many as you like, in as many rounds as you like. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF all go in.

Image to PDF with four photos loaded: the file list, one A4 page per photo in the middle, the page options on the right
The file list with four photos, each with a thumbnail and its pixel size
Every row shows the picture and its size in pixels.
  • A JPG goes into the PDF exactly as it is, with no loss of quality - and a phone photo keeps its orientation, as the phone recorded it.
  • A PNG keeps its transparency and every pixel.
  • HEIC - the iPhone's own format - can't be read by most browsers. Save the photo as JPG first (on an iPhone: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible), or share it as JPG.

Put them in order

The PDF follows the order on screen. With one image a page, drag the page tiles in the preview; with several on a page, drag the rows of the file list. A–Z and Size above the list sort them for you - a third press brings back the order you added them in.

Hover over a picture - on its tile or its row - to rotate it a quarter turn or remove it. A photo taken sideways is set right before it goes into the PDF.

Page size, orientation and margin

  • Page size - A4, Letter, Legal or A3: every page the same size, the picture placed inside. Fit makes each page exactly the size of its picture instead.
  • Orientation - Auto turns each page to suit its picture (a landscape photo on a landscape page); Portrait and Landscape set every page one way.
  • Margin - the white edge around the pictures: None, Small, Medium or Large. It is also the gap between pictures that share a page.
Page size Fit: each page as big as its photo, the portrait photo on a tall page
With Fit, every page takes the shape of its picture - so orientation and images per page don't apply.

Several images on a page

Images per page puts 1, 2, 4 or 6 pictures on each page - a contact sheet, or a set of receipts on as few sheets as possible. The grid follows the page's orientation.

Four images per page: the four photos on one A4 sheet in a two-by-two grid

Placement decides what happens when a picture's shape differs from its space: Fit inside shows the whole picture with room around it; Fill & crop fills the space edge to edge and cuts off what doesn't fit.

Two images per page with Fill & crop: each photo fills its half of the page, edges cropped

One PDF or one per image, and a smaller file

  • Output - One PDF with every picture, or One PDF per image (saved together as a ZIP).
  • Compress images - phone photos are large; this scales them down to 2000 pixels on the longer side and saves them again. The PDF becomes much smaller and is still fine on screen and for ordinary prints. Leave it off when the pictures must keep every detail.

Convert and save

Press Convert to PDF. The line under the button says what comes out ("4 images → 1 page · 1 PDF"). The PDF is saved to your device at once; the button then says Saved and turns into Save, which saves the same file again. Any change - an image, the order, an option - turns it back into Convert to PDF.

Limits

Without an account, and with a free one, you can convert five images in a run, each up to 15 MB. With Pro there is no limit on the number or the size, and you can save your page settings as a preset.
