How to change or remove PDF metadata: a step-by-step guide

Atjaunināts 2026. gada 2. oktobris

Šis ceļvedis vēl nav pieejams latviešu valodā, tāpēc tas tiek rādīts angliski. Pats rīks darbojas latviski.

A PDF carries properties a reader shows and a search engine indexes: a title, an author, a subject, keywords, the application that made it, the date it was created. They are often wrong - a template's title, a former colleague's name - or more than you want to share. Edit PDF metadata shows what each file carries and lets you change or clear it. It all happens in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Īsumā

  1. Drop your PDFs on the page, or press Add files.
  2. Read the file's current properties above its pages.
  3. Change the fields in the rail, or press Clear all.
  4. Press Save metadata: the file is saved to your device straight away.

Add the files

Drop the PDFs anywhere on the page, or press Add files. Above the pages of the selected file you see what it carries now - title, author, subject, keywords, application, created, producer and modified - and in the header whether the file keeps its properties in one place or two (the Info dictionary, and an XMP packet beside it).

Edit PDF metadata with three files: the annual report's title, author, subject, keywords and dates listed above its pages, the same values in the rail's fields

Change the properties

The rail holds a field for each: Title, Author, Subject, Keywords (separated by commas), Application and Created. A field you change wears a dot, and the file is marked edited in the list. Empty a field to remove that property from the file.

The title extended with " - v2" and the subject emptied: both fields wear a dot, the file list says edited
A new title and an emptied subject - the dot marks what will change.
  • Apply to every file copies this file's author, subject, keywords and application to the other files; each keeps its own title and date.
  • Clear all empties every field - a clean file before it is sent out.
  • Back to original puts back what the file came with.

Save

Press Save metadata. The file is saved to your device at once - several files together as a ZIP. The properties are written to both places a PDF keeps them, so a viewer that reads one and a viewer that reads the other show the same title. The modification date becomes the moment of saving, and the producer MammothPDF.

Hidden data goes beyond these properties - attachments, comments, scripts, the metadata inside pictures. Sanitize PDF takes all of it out.

Limits

Without an account, and with a free one, you can save two files in a run, each up to 15 MB. With Pro there is no limit on the number or the size.
