How to rotate PDF pages: a step-by-step guide

Rotate PDF turns the pages of a PDF and saves them that way - a page scanned sideways, a landscape table in a portrait report, a document that came in upside down. Turn every page, or only the ones you pick, by a quarter turn or any angle. It all happens in your browser; the file is never uploaded.

Singkatnya

  1. Drop your PDF on the page, or press Add files.
  2. Click the pages to turn - or choose none to turn the whole file.
  3. Press 90° left, 90° right or 180° in the rail.
  4. Press Rotate PDF: the file is saved to your device straight away.

Add the file

Drop the PDF anywhere on the page, or press Add files. Its pages appear in the middle as thumbnails, so you can see which ones lie on their side. A Word, Excel or PowerPoint file or a photo works too - it is turned into a PDF as it arrives.

Rotate PDF with a three-page scanned letter loaded: the second page lies on its side

Choose the pages

Click a thumbnail to choose that page, or drag across several. With nothing chosen, the rotation applies to the whole file. The bar above the thumbnails picks pages for you:

  • All, Invert, Odd, Even - every page, the opposite of what is chosen, one side of a two-sided document;
  • Landscape, Portrait - the pages that lie one way, such as the wide tables in a report;
  • Every Nth - every second, third… page;
  • the range field - pages and ranges such as "2, 5-7", applied with Enter. Clear selection empties it.

Turn them

90° left, 90° right and 180° turn the chosen pages. A press adds to the turn they already have, so two presses of 90° right make 180°. The thumbnail turns at once and wears a badge with its angle.

The sideways second page chosen and turned 90° right: its thumbnail now stands upright with a 90° badge
The sideways page, turned a quarter to the right: now it reads upright.

Under the buttons, the Rotate by degrees stepper shows the chosen pages' angle and sets it directly - any angle from -179° to 180°, positive clockwise. Each step turns the pages at once, so you can watch the thumbnails while you click.

The rotation controls: the three turn buttons, the angle stepper at 90°, Keep the page size and the button that removes the turn

Remove the turn from the selected pages sets the chosen pages back to how they came. The magnifier in a thumbnail's corner shows the page large, turned as it will be saved.

Quarter turns and any angle

A quarter turn (90°, 180°, 270°) is lossless: the page is only marked as turned, its content is not touched, text stays text and nothing gets bigger.

Any other angle - 3°, 45° - has to draw the page's content turned on a new sheet. Keep the page size decides what that sheet is:

  • on (the default) - the page keeps its size (an A4 stays A4), and the turned content is scaled down to fit, so nothing is cut off;
  • off - the page grows to hold the turned content at full size, with white margins around it.

A scan that is only a little crooked? Straighten PDF (Deskew) measures every page's tilt and levels it by itself.

Rotate and save

Press Rotate PDF. The line under the button says how many pages turn. The turned file is saved to your device at once; the button then says Saved and turns into Save, which saves the same file again. Bookmarks, links and form fields stay with their pages.

Several files at once

Add several PDFs to turn them in one run; more than one result is saved as a ZIP. Above the file list, Apply to decides how:

  • Selected file - you turn the pages of the file selected in the list; each file keeps its own turns.
  • All files - one rule by page position for every file: "turn page 1 by 90°", "turn every even page by 180°" - for a stack of scans that all came out the same way. The files' own turns are set aside, not lost.

Limits

Without an account, and with a free one, you can rotate two files in a run, each up to 15 MB. With Pro there is no limit on the number or the size, and you can save a rule such as "even pages, 180°" as a preset.
